WW2 German Third Reich Dress Bayonet Maker Marked Model 1938 Parade Bayonet

$325.00 CAD

Item Description

Model 1938 Third Reich Dress Bayonet

This is a German Model 1938 dress bayonet, produced during the Third Reich period and intended for wear with parade, walking-out, and ceremonial uniforms rather than frontline combat. The bayonet retains its blackened steel scabbard with frog stud, paired with a standard S-guard hilt and black checkered grip panels secured by rivets. The pommel features the characteristic bird’s-head profile with functional push-button release.

The blade is a bright, polished single-edged dress blade, well finished and showing the maker’s trademark at the ricasso: Carl Eickhorn, Solingen, one of Germany’s most respected edged-weapon manufacturers. The blade remains in very good condition, with light age toning consistent with period wear.

Attached is an original cloth portepee (knot), correctly tied through the crossguard. The scabbard throat and leather frog remain intact, and the bayonet presents as a complete, matching ceremonial set. Overall condition reflects honest age, with surface wear appropriate to parade use rather than field service.

This pattern was commonly worn by Heer (Army), NCOs, for formal occasions, inspections, and off-duty dress.

Portepee Colors – What They Mean

The portepee on this bayonet is green with silver/gray accents.

Correct Interpretation:

•Green base → Heer (German Army)

•Silver/gray weave → Non-commissioned officer (Unteroffizier) rank group

This combination identifies the bayonet as Army issue for an NCO, worn with dress or walking-out uniform.
